Build explosive Power for any sport!

Jordan Fitness kindly sent us one of their Plyometric Platforms to test drive and we were impressed!

Not only does it look the bomb, its very well built and solid as a rock! This thing can take a beating!

Complex training…

At CRT we use complex training to create warriors with supreme power. This involves pairing a heavy strength move, with a similar unloaded explosive movement. You just need to ensure you rest around a minute in between exercises.

For example:

– Heavy kettlebell squats X 5

– Rest 30 seconds

– 5 Box jumps

The steps towards Power.

Step 1: 2 X 28kg Kettlebell Squats (5 reps)

Step 2: Rest 30 seconds

Step 3: Plyometric Box Jumps (5 reps)

Repeat a further two sets, for a total of three sets.

This can be replicated for an bodypart, for example Chest, where you would use heavy bench press, followed by Plyometric Press Ups (with claps).

The above workout was completed at Cheetahs Gym in Hove, the home of Oli Thompson’s training camps during his UFC and KSW contracts.

He is now training for KSW 22, which takes place in Warsaw, Poland on the 16th March 2012.

BREAKING NEWS: Oli Thompson to Face Karol Bedorf At KSW 22

BREAKING NEWS: Oli Thompson to Face Karol Bedorf At KSW 22

We are please to confirm that former UFC heavyweight contender Oli Thompson (10-4-0) who is trained by Combat Ready Training, will make his KSW debut against Polish grappler Karol Bedorf (8-2-0) on March 16th, in Warsaw, Poland.

It has been long rumoured since the Hove residents departure from the UFC that he would sign up to fight on what many feel is Europe premier MMA promotion and that rumoured has now been put to rest with Polish sources reporting that he is set to feature at KSW 22.

A win for the former Britons strongest man could potentially set up a mega fight with 5 times worlds strongest man Mariusz Pudzianowski, which would reignite an old rivalry between the two competitors from their strong man days.

Training alongside Christian Vila, Oli’s training camp is well underway, with the heavyweight looking sharper and hungrier than ever

This is how we crush the opposition!

Witness one of Combat Ready Training’s top secret weapons for developing bone- crushing grips!

Just imagine your head or body being squeezed by these arms during a bout!

Taught to me by my good friend JC Santana of the IHP, Florida- this awesome exercise will have the opposition screaming!

“What if a fighter possessed enough gripping strength put on a squeeze that is strong enough to crack a rib, or separate it from its cartilage. How about a face crank strong enough to break skin around the orbital socket? What if enough strength could be developed to break the tibia during a leg lock. Or, even having the ability to hold on to a choke (e.g. rear naked or guillotine) for 2 minutes and slowly choke out an opponent that would otherwise hold off a 30 second choke attempt? The results would be devastating and that is exactly what we are training for.

You need several things to be able to crush bones with your grip.  First, you need to think of this as a viable weapon -most fighters think control, not ending the fight with grips.  Second, you need to develop the specific technique (i.e. the right angles, speed of force, and consistency of pressure).  Third, you need the specific strength.  Finally, you need the specific endurance”.

JC Santana, 2012

Here’s how to perform the exercise:

GripDominator Power Sling ISO hold (Shown above)

Using the JC’s Power Sling, put your left hand through the Power Sling and lock a Gable lock with your right hand.  Perform and pull-up and bring your right forearm to you ribs while keeping the elbows in and tight. Bring your legs up into a tucked position. Hold that position for 30-60 seconds.  Use a weighted vest to add enough weight where the time under tension becomes challenging.    Repeat with the left arm.

What’s new with Training Mask 2.0? smask.jpg

Training Mask 2.0 has been a work in progress for over 2 years. We have asked our customers of Training Mask 1.0 to give us their feedback and what they would want to see in 2.0. With great feedback from test marketing and direct responses we have made Training Mask 2.0 smaller, lighter and more comfortable. Training Mask 2.0 gives the end user a redesigned look and feel along with the resistance levels that they desire

Elevation Training Mask mimics the effects of High Altitude Training. When elite athletes want to improve their performance they go to high altitude levels to train. When they come back to sea level they perform much stronger, faster, and have increased endurance.

Training Mask 2.0 makes your work out more efficient allowing you to take your work out from 60 minutes to 20 minutes. From the average daily walker to the marathon runner, Training Mask 2.0 appeals to every athlete who wants to improve their overall health and performance.

We have changed the look! training-mask-2.jpg

It started with the first version made from an Israeli civilian gas mask and has been completedly revamped and remolded into Training Mask 2.0. We have gotten away from the eye pieces, hardened straps, and overall gas mask look. With reconstruction of an entirely new mask mould, and neoprene that is stretched over the rubber resistance mask, and caps give Training Mask 2.0 a smooth, sleek look and comfortable feel.

Training Mask 2.0 is held on the face with a comfortable neoprene strap that over lays the air tight silicone piece that rests against the face. The neoprene strap is held onto the mask by 3 “Resistance caps”. The resistance caps make for a nice snug fit against the neoprene and hold the neoprene in place acting as a “post” against the silicone that rests on your face.

Training Mask 2.0 is a less aggressive looking approach to working out while still getting the aggressive workout that one desires. With Training Mask 2.0 you do not have claustrophobia like feeling nor will you have to worry about vision problems while training. Our snap and go resistance nose pieces are truely revolutionary as it makes the ease of use that much easier.

The science behind the mask!

After extensive research and clinical testing from the UNIVERSITY OF NAIT the Training Mask 2.0 has made remarkable advancement in the fitness and training industry. Training Mask 2.0 takes all the amazing “Diaphragm Resistance Technology” from Training Mask 1.0 and compiles it into a less obtrusive, amazingly comfortable silicone mask that fits over the nose and mouth. The Elevation Training Mask 2.0 is the ultimate respiratory training device. Our multi-level resistance system reduces air flow through our patent pending flux valve system. Training Mask 2.0 promotes increased lung capacity by forcing you to inhale fuller deeper breaths. When your body adapts to the resistance your lungs will be trained to take deeper breaths and use oxygen more efficiently.
While using Training Mask 2.0 the conditioning of your lungs significantly increases along with endurance and diaphragm strength.
Training Mask 2.0 will benifit your respiratory system as your overall cardio and endurance will improve with continued use.

Altitude resistance and Training Mask 2.0 ?

Training Mask 2.0 does not “change on the o2 molecular level” however your body does make adaptations for this “Simulation” to be considered “Altitude Training” also known as the “BOHR EFFECT”

Oli Thompson meets Phil De Fries at UFC on Fox 4 in Los Angeles!

from Bleacher Report.

British heavyweights set to meet on Aug. 4 at Staples Center.

A pair of British heavyweights are set to collide on American soil this summer.

Phil De Fries and Oli Thompson have been booked for a fight on the UFC’s fourth card on the Fox network. UFC officials recently announced the fight pairing.

De Fries and Thompson will fight on the preliminary card of UFC on Fox: Stann vs. Lombard, which will take place Aug. 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Headlining the card is the UFC debut of former Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard, who faces middleweight contender Brian Stann.

Thompson (9-3, 0-1 UFC) dropped his UFC debut with a second-round TKO loss to Shawn Jordan at UFC on FX: Alves vs Kampmann in March in Sydney, Australia. That setback snapped a six-fight winning streak for the 2008 World’s Strongest Man qualifier, who is a former champion of the Britain’s Strongest Man competition. Of Thompson’s nine MMA wins, eight are by stoppage – including five submissions.

Thompson vs Jordan weigh-in.

De Fries (8-1, 1 NC, 1-1 UFC) won his UFC debut last fall in front of his countrymen at UFC 138 in England, a unanimous decision victory over Rob Broughton. But his follow-up was much rougher. He was knocked out by Stipe Miocic just 43 seconds into their February fight at UFC on Fuel TV: Sanchez vs. Ellenberger. De Fries signed with the UFC on the strength of a near-perfect start to his MMA career – 7-0 with one no contest, and all seven of his wins by submission.

Miocic defeats Phil De Fries.

Also booked for the UFC on Fox card are fights between former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and Ryan Bader; a lightweight fight between fight night bonus hawks Joe Lauzon and Terry Etim; and heavyweight bouts pitting Ben Rothwell against Travis Browne and Matt Mitrione against Broughton.

Training is well underway in preparation for this bout, with Oli Thompson working his Boxing skills with Anthony Brown and Strength & Conditioning with Christian Vila (Combat Ready Training).

JC Santana prepares Anthony Johnson for next bout….

From MMA Junkie….

Anthony Johnson can joke about the most humiliating moment of his professional fight career, even though his missed weight at UFC 142 cost him his job in the world’s biggest MMA organization.

“You better not even ask,” Johnson joked about what he currently weighs, when host “Gorgeous” George Garcia asked for his specific poundage on a recent appearance on MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio).

Despite the severity of his mistake on the scales, Johnson (10-4) said he doesn’t dwell on losing his UFC contract and focuses only on his future — which now comes in Titan Fighting Championship, including a middleweight date against former UFC fighter Dave Branch (10-2) at the HDNet-televised Titan Fighting Championship 22 on May 25 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan.

“I can’t hold onto the past or my mistakes,” he said. “I’ve got to learn from them and keep moving. I can’t let that stuff haunt me because once it haunts you, I don’t think you’ll ever get over it.”

While “Rumble” admits he was shocked when he first learned he had been cut shortly after losing to Vitor Belfort in Rio De Janeiro in January, he said he doesn’t regret trying to move up from welterweight (170 pounds), where he had posted a 7-3 record in the UFC, to middleweight (185) for the co-main event at UFC 142.

“I didn’t mind the challenge with Vitor or anyone else,” he said. “I try not to have too many regrets in my life. I have a few, but when it comes down to fighting, I don’t have any. No point. The bad stuff ain’t paying my bills.”

Johnson takes full responsibility for his failure to make weight (he weighed in at a whopping 197 pounds), which was the third time he had missed weight in his octagon career.

“When it came down to making weight for 185, I just think my body had to adjust from losing muscle to packing on muscle, then trying to lose it (again),” he said. “My body was just confused. ‘What are you doing to me.'”

“But it is what it is. I can’t complain about it, I just have to keep going forward and not even think about the past and just think about my future.”

The 28-year-old Johnson admits he envisions a return to the UFC, but he doesn’t have a certain timetable in mind.

“I don’t know,” he said. “Of course my ultimate goal is to get back in the UFC, but I’m with Titan right now, so I can’t think about anything else.”

“I’ve just got to think about who I’m with and who I have to compete against. I’ve just got to be ready for David Branch. I’m not thinking about who is in the UFC or what the UFC is doing. When my time comes, it will come.”

The 30-year-old Branch — who went 2-2 in the UFC from 2010 to 2011, scoring wins over Tomasz Drwal and Rich Attonito and losses to Gerald Harris and Rousimar Palhares — could offer a stiff test.

“I’ve heard good things about him,” Johnson said of Branch, who has posted back-to-back victories since leaving the UFC. “I heard he’s really tough. He’s athletic, has good cardio.

“I’m eager to see what he brings to the table and see what I can do against him.”

Johnson, a Georgia native who moved from California to Florida this past year, credits his coaches and Blackzilian teammates at Imperial Athletics in Boca Raton, Fla., for keeping him in top shape.

“Florida is great,” he said. “I like the weather here, but most importantly, I have my team here. We all hang out. We’re just a big family really. I’ve got half my family here, so it’s not like I’m really missing anything else besides my friends.”

And to any doubters or haters who think he will once again have weight problems, Johnson said his new strength and conditioning coach, J.C. Santana, has developed a full nutrition plan and weighs him daily to combat any issues before they get too big.

“He’s the real deal,” Johnson joked. “He’s already beating my (expletive).”

Want to learn from the master himself? JC Santana will in Europe this August, 2012 to deliver the MMA Strength & Conditioning coach Certification! Spaces are limited, so don’t delay in getting booked on!

Tolly Plested victorious at UCMMA 27!

Tolly walks out alongside fellow training partner, Oli Thompson.

After a near perfect performance, Tolly Plested defeated Sam Boo via Rear Naked Choke in the First round at the weekend’s UCMMA event at the Troxy in London.

Tolly’s work ethic in preparation for this bout was remarkable. The hard work paid off, as he looked confident and relaxed during the fight.

Having performed a text-book takedown in the third minute of the first round, Tolly then went on to secure a submission forcing his opponant to tap at 3:34.

Tolly secures the submission.

I predict big things for Tolly, who will climb the ladder of his weight division using his trademark fighting style and superior skills.

Congratulations to Tolly and his fight team. Bring on the next one!
