Oli Thompson vs. Shawn Jordan added to UFC on FX 2!

Finally its official! UFC Heavyweight fighter Oli Thompson will face Shawn Jordan at UFC on FX2!

Training has already begun, with Oli’s arm making a full recovery and strength at near maximum.

from MMAJunkie.com:

UFC on FX 2 has added a pair of octagon newcomers.

Sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com that heavyweights Shawn Jordan (12-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Oli Thompson (9-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) are set to clash in the UFC’s third trip Down Under.

“UFC on FX 2: Kampmann vs. Alves” takes place March 3 at Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia. The event’s main card airs live on FX while preliminary fights head to FUEL TV.

The UFC first ventured into Australia for UFC 110 and returned one year later for UFC 127. Both shows were quick sellouts.

Jordan, a former fullback at Louisiana State University, arrives in the UFC with a recent submission victory over Lavar Johnson at Strikeforce Challengers 19. The majority of his fights have ended by way of TKO or KO (with eight of them in his favor).

Shawn Jordan

A Bellator veteran, Jordan trains out of Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA in Albuquerque, N.M.

Thompson in July signed with the UFC to face Phil De Fries at UFC 138, but an injury forced him to withdraw from the bout.

From ESPN:

Thompson, a former winner of Britain’s Strongest Man, has won nine of his 11 bouts since taking up the sport in 2009; his two losses came against UFC veterans Rob Broughton and Joe Vedepo.

The Brit was scheduled to face Phil de Fries at UFC 138, but injury scuppered any chance of the bout happening.

Oli Thompson

Jordan’s record stands at 12-3, and he has experience of competing in the Strikeforce promotion. His most recent outing was a creditable victory over the durable Lavar Johnson.

From Headkick Legend:

Fighting out of the Jackson-Winkeljohn camp, Jordan began his professional career with a victory in Bellator in the spring of 2009. He’s since put together a record of 12-3-0, with eleven of his twelve wins coming by way of (T)KO or submission. Jordan split a pair of bouts during his time with Strikeforce, faltering in his promotional with a decision loss to Devin Cole before rebounding with an upset submission win over Lavar Johnson last September.

Jordan will be tasked with Oli Thompson, whose UFC debut was delayed after injury forced him to pull out of a fight with Phil de Fries. Thompson has a career record of 9-2-0, with losses to UFC veterans Joe Vedepo and Rob Broughton. Like Jordan, Thompson has a penchant for the finish, with eight of his victories ending by tapout or TKO.

UFC on FX 2″ will take place in Sydney, Australia and feature a headline bout between welterweights Thiago Alves and Martin Kampmann

The ten-week training camp is well underway, with Team Oli Thompson working together towards the big date on 3rd March.
